Care for the shape and storage
Leather is a "living" material that can develop permanent creases. When not in use: Do not leave it empty or flattened. Fill it with tissue paper (avoid newspapers, as the ink could stain the lining) to maintain its original silhouette. Where to store it: Keep it in its fabric dust bag. Avoid plastic bags that do not allow the material to breathe, risking drying out the fibers.
Rain and heat
Vegetable tanning is sensitive to liquids. In case of rain: If the bag gets wet, pat it immediately with a dry, clean cloth. Do not rub forcefully to prevent water from penetrating the pores. Drying: Let it dry away from radiators, direct sunlight, or hair dryers. Artificial heat is enemy number one: it makes the leather stiff and can cause cracks.
periodic hydration
To keep the leather soft and scratch-resistant, treat it once or twice a year (or if it feels dry to the touch): Clean the surface with a soft cloth to remove dust. Apply a small amount of specific leather balm or neutral beeswax-based cream. Massage gently with circular motions and let it absorb completely before use.
